“he has never been violent to anyone including his actions on the night of the 17th”
Uh-huh
“he has never been violent to anyone including his actions on the night of the 17th”
Uh-huh
Not only does the “20 minutes” thing make me sick, but his use of the word “action”.
I really hope it was just careless speech, not something intentional. Or maybe the psychopath doesn’t fall far from the tree?
Assuming this is true (the part about the 17th being an outright lie, and we can see where Brock gets his attitudes toward women, violence and the truth from in the letter), then he just happened to get caught after his first offense. I very much doubt that had he not been caught, it would have been his only offense.
I’m even less moved by “He doesn’t steal my pretzels anymore.” Most people would think that’s a good thing.
There are tens of thousands of prosecutions every year in this country, for various violent crimes. You hear about 0.01% of them, which is the fraction in which there is a sufficient perception of miscarriage of justice for the media/industrial complex and the hair-trigger protesters to bring it to your attention…
There is (in my opinion) a crisis in the American criminal justice system, and incidents like this, rather than illuminate it, actually distract us from it.
All of the above, and chances are, this isn’t the first time he’s done this - just the first time he got caught.
Of course what he said was very very very offensive. But since when is advocating violence and death threats are legal or acceptable?
Had any man shared his thoughts on Wanetta Gibson who destroyed Brian Banks’ life, or on a journalist who considered Clara Harris justified in killing her husband for infidelity, or on Casey Anthony he would have been jailed.
I think it’s more a matter of classism than racism. I think a black Stanford athlete in a fraternity would have gotten a lighter sentence than a black non-student/frat brother/athlete. And of course, the race of the victim would have made a difference too.
Eh, the father is trying to keep his kid out of jail. The kid may be a disgusting POS, but I won’t fault a parent for defending him.
He thought he could do whatever he wanted and the world would cater to his desires with no repercussions. He wasn’t quite right, but he wasn’t that far off.

20 minutes in time out for you. I want you to think about what you’ve said.
The kid and his father should be locked up with that “affluenza” kid and his mother. Some pieces of shit don’t fall far from the tree.
Here in the UK, the state can appeal a sentence that appears to be overly lenient. Is it the same in the US?
I said that while the offenders father said something offensive, advocating violence should neither be legal nor acceptable.
Had any man written his thoughts about Wanetta Gibson who destroyed Brian Banks’ life, or his thoughts about any journalist who considered Clara Harris justified in killing her husband for infidelity, or his thoughts about Casey Anthony he would have been in great legal trouble.
Maybe someone can look up California sentencing guidelines (if there are any) for crimes like this. That would give a better idea as to what the sentence is supposed to be rather than presumptions, conjectures and surmises.
Especially considering that per news reports the judge seemed to have followed the sentencing report.
20 minutes? Impressive!
I wasn’t advocating violence or death threats at all. Just using the father’s logic to point out just how foolish it is.
No, the sentence will stand. The UK seems to have more logical laws imo.
The prosecutor recommended 12 years, but I think that is because he was convicted of 3 felonies. CA Rape sentencing guidelines are below. FYI he did not get sent to state prison but will serve 3 months in county.
Penalties and Sentences
In general, California state laws punish a conviction of rape with a sentence of imprisonment in state prison for three, six, or eight years. The potential sentence increases to a range of seven to eleven years when the rape victim is a minor who is over fourteen years of age. The potential sentence further increases to a range of nine to thirteen years when the victim is a child under the age of fourteen. Each sentence can also increase if the defendant acted in concert with another person to rape the victim.
According to all the papers I’ve read, Turner could have gotten sentenced to as much as 14 years for his crimes.
According to this source, the average sentence for convicted rapists in the US is 11.8 years. The actual time served averages out to 5.4 years.
No matter how you slice it, Turner got off very easy.
FYI, it appears that the original mugshot from his initial arrest in 2015 has not been released but the photo taken the other day when he was booked into jail was.
If he was black, would the police and sheriff have held back the mugshot?
He has Adam Lanza eyes.
Well he has not been convicted of rape AFAIK. (Rape is Ss 261 of CA Penal Code). Per news reports he has been convicted of
.
Nor does the maximum statutory sentence necessarily give an indication as to what punishment normally is in a situation like this; i.e first offence, alcohol induced.
