Since many of us can’t get to Gettysburg conveniently or to any of the other sporadic Dopefests but would still love to put a face and voice to some Dopers, would anyone be interested in a virtual Dopefest of some sort? I’m not versed enough in skype to know how many can chat at one time but there are options. One is chatroulette: if we could have an appointed date and hour we could play Hail Mary Dopefest. Hold up a sign that says SDMB and perhaps your user name and keep “nexting” until you find another Doper. Like speed dating we could spend a few minutes chatting then move on. Interested in any interest or in any other suggestions. ---

A lot of us already have “virtual” get togethers of sorts. Steam (a video game for the old timers) and the weekly poker game are just two examples of us Dopers getting together in a virtual environment. Google Wave was a very active one but it has since died down, I believe. Unless no one told me about any new SDMB waves. ☹ ---

There’s also IRC. We used to have a really active IRC channel on Undernet, and from time to time we’ll have an “Oldschool IRC Chat Night”. ---

I was just about to mention the IRC stuff. I’ve missed the Old-School IRC Nights due to being busy both nights, but I hope there’s another one soon! ---
