I got mine from Jayrey too! Also a nice bookmark by the enigmatic rocking chair, and a card with a hand drawn flower from Eonwe. Thank you!
On Tuesday, I got 3 valentines. Thanks, jayrey, purplehorseshoe, and Eonwe! All were most welcome. Loved your sister’s gorgeous original design, Eonwe.
Got a nice lovely card from Eonwe and a beautiful card from anaglyph! Thanks!
Such excitement!!
I came home today, on a day when it was supposed to get up to 30° and be sunny, but instead is 17° and snowing, to a Manila envelope with my name on it.
I opened it, and it was a valentine from Anaglyph! It looks like it could be a Mardi Gras mask, and is a lovely red and green heart-shaped valentine.
Thank you!
Oooh, I’m mystified now… I got an hand-made mask yesterday, but I thought it was from Amarinth! At any rate, no matter which lovely individual sent it, I’m happy to have it, thanks! And double-yum for the chocolate!
They were little charms to hang onto your backpack or your keychain. I will be more careful next time.
At this point, is there anyone who hasn’t sent theirs? No shaming here, just please send them as soon as possible! I don’t mind getting them late at all, it makes me happy.
They finally got somewhere! I’m sorry it took so long (they really were sent out pre-Valentines day).
They were supposed to be alligator/valentine masks.
I’m just clueless. As soon as I read this, I looked at the mask and could immediately see the alligator.
And, I just picked up the envelope to put it in the recycling, and realized that there were two pieces of Ghiradelli chocolate in it! What a day!
Pai325’s, Grrlbrarian’s and Jkellymap’s cards arrived well before valentine’s day. Purplehorseshoe’s lovely hearts and good wishes did a point landing, arriving exactly on valentine’s day. Jayray’s and Eonwe’s lovely cards arrived only few days later
Rockingchair’s handwriting challenged the Swiss postal system, in trying to decipher it they found somebody with the same last name where every detail in the address was just slightly off: the first half of the first name, the area code too low by 10 but in the same city, the first half of the street name different, the second half (meaning “meadow”) correct, digits of the house number transposed. The poor initial recipient apparently had to return it twice to the post office until it found its way to my mailbox. I sent her a thank you card for her effort.
Amarinth’s alligator arrived yesterday, causing some puzzlement because the green part had separated from the rest, and reassembly was not immediately obvious, but this image solved the puzzle. The chocolates were sticky, as the caramel filling had escaped the chocolate covering, but they were nice.
So eight cards have arrived so far, and I have two more to look forwards to!
I enjoyed receiving goodies in the mail, and sending them out. My only regret is that I couldn’t send out stuff to more people. Ah well, there’s always next year.
And what to my wondering eyes did appear, but ah, shit, wrong holiday my alligator card arrived from amarinth along with my two delicious and wonderfully well-timed chocolates, as today was a Bad Day and I was busy throwing myself a little pity party, so the smile - that truly is a delightfully cheesy card - and the candy was especially appreciated. Thank you!
Awww. I’ll be completely honest, I had a true moral struggle as I considered not telling you, to spare you the disappointed feeling, but when I circled back around to this thread I saw that others had posted the same thing so I just couldn’t.
I even briefly thought about posting a thread here, with the generalities only and without the details, to solicit opinions on which was more important - truth or compassion - which would have been so meta and recursive I might have broken the Internet.
Besides, I thoroughly enjoyed my mental movie of you packing and mailing a bunch of pint-sized gremlins, and of them chewing and clawing (the envelopes really did look mauled) and finally escaping and getting drinks together at a rendezvous post office, and you know what? Fun like that is its own special gift. Consider yours to have arrived.
ETA anaglyph, thanks for the chuckles at the adventures of rockingchair’s card’s travels. Love that the post office got the business of an extra thank you card in the mail out of it.
Got a lovely mask from amarinth! And some candies. They were melted (seems to be a bit of a problem with receiving caramel-chocolate in the mail, which is too bad because I like caramel-chocolate) but I had a bite anyway.
and that was the pretty handwriting…
anaglyph, i’m glad it finally got to you. perhaps you will have a new friend?
i enjoyed the mask, chased the cat with it.
Oh, that’s right: amarinth, you have lovely handwriting!,
I received a beautiful Valentine in the mail today from Anaglyph!!! It’s the most exquisite hand made card with pop up flowers. Thank you!
i am happy to announce that the us postal service had no trouble with anaglyph’s handwriting.
what a fantastic card! just the perfect card, the flowers are so very welcome after a 7 inch snow fall.
Yay! I got a beautiful card in the mail from Anaglyph on Friday. Thanks so much for your lovely, creative Valentine!
I also got anaglyph’s gorgeous card on Friday! What a nice surprise, well after I thought the holiday was over, to get one more lovely card in the mail. It really cheered me up!
Thanks for participating, everyone!
Funny - I sent 10 cards on Feb. 3rd, the first one arrived at its destination on Feb. 12th, the rest only getting to their destination now! They are apparently taking the long way around!
