> So did [Liam Lynch get hoodwinked](https://www.google.com/search?q=liam+lynch+cloned+cat)? His cat Finnegan Forcefield appears to be a carbon copy of the donor, and all of Lynch’s commentary on the project seems sincere. I never got the impression that it was a publicity stunt. At least not on his part, but maybe [Genetic Savings and Clone](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_Savings_%26_Clone) fooled him for their own PR purposes.

Those two cats are not identical. For example, Finnegan has darker markings on his right foreleg than the donor Frankie. The pale horizontal markings above the eyes appear to differ somewhat too. I’m sure with more extensive photos more differences would be apparent.

It was the great and underrated(\*) genius Alan Turing who [first conjectured](http://raimalarter.blogspot.com/2012/06/turing-patterns-another-contribution-by.html) how [Zebra-like striped patterns](http://www.souvenirsfromearth.tv/artists/maske.php?id=248) arise naturally from random processes.

ETA: \* - IMO. And I call him “underrated” even knowing he’s already rated very highly.
