# Would I like OOTP?

I like video games.
I enjoy strategy games. I’ve very much enjoyed complex, involved games like _Europa Universalis III_ and _Crusader Kings_.
I like baseball.
I’m not, like, _really_ into baseball, but I follow the O’s and get out to a few games every year. I know what most of the stat abbreviations stand for, if not how exactly they are calculated. I recognize all of the big-name players, but outside of my team, damned if I know who the hell whatshisname-relief pitcher is on [name a team]. I understand many of the general strategies of the game, but again, I am far from an expert.
I’ve got twenty bucks burning a hole in my [debit card]. Would I like _Out of the Park Baseball 13_?

It is an exceptionally complicated game. It’s not a casual enterprise.
If you want a simpler, fun baseball game, start with Baseball Mogul. Buy the 2013 version (cheap, and the 2014 version adds nothing and is buggy.) It’s - I am not making this up - at LEAST ten times easier to figure out.

I’ll look into it. I do enjoy a certain degree of micromanagement, but I find what I refer to as “electron micromanagement” distasteful at best. I’ve suspected that’s what OOTP involves, from what I’ve seen and heard about it so far, but I wanted to make sure from people who know the game (and know baseball). Thanks.

OOTP is in no way extremely complicated; its less complicated than Football Manager and it can be customized to play as you like.
Avoid Baseball Mogul. Its crap.
OOTP also lets you import universes from older games into the latest version.
