At the utter worst, hatchbacks may be associated with “nerd” as in who cares about style this can fit my stuff. OTOH as mentioned there are sports hatchbacks that you can use to apply a bit of\* Fast And The Furious\* vibe to yourself. The “chick” association of the Neo-Bug and the Fiat500 are more from their general design and style IMO. BTW nice try **Stratocaster** , but it’s a \*&^%$ RAV4 by Toyota. You need to move up to one of their pickups (ride of choice of rebels from Afghanistan to Syria) or an older (as in 20th Century) 4Runner or Land Cruiser. And yes, I believe there is a study from some government agency, a Gen. 1 Subaru Forester meant you were part of a committed lesbian couple from Vermont. A man with a Subaru in New Jersey just means he’s one mightily secure dude who ain’t got to prove nothin’ to nobody, **Loach**. Or he’s attending college there. ---

So we pulled his engine and dropped it in mine. Very fun. Miatas are fun. True sports car front engine rear wheel drive. Back in 89, I bought a Nissan 240SX coupe. Also front engine rear wheel drive. Cousin had a Miata. We made some turns in the Colorado mountains we did. Loved that 240. It was like a chassed rabbit. ---

I drive a hatchback because it’s easier to put stuff in the back. I couldn’t care less what anyone else thinks which sounds like that is more of a concern to the OP than anything else. You’ll never be anything if you spend your life worrying about what other people think. ---

Are hatchbacks more fuel efficient? I know that the Subaru Impreza is offered as either a sedan or hatchback. Both models have the same gas mileage. ---

I got the sedan version of the 2013 Mazda3, and IIRC it got maybe 2 mpg more than the hatchback. To more directly answer the zombie OP, my cars have been as follows: coupe hatchback hatchback sedan The first two were basically family inheritances and I didn’t have much choice. The third was the first one I had total control over, and I bought it because I liked the previous car, and I had plans to move shortly. I knew I would need some cargo space. The sedan I bought in January. I picked it because it got slightly better mileage than the hatchback version and I was settled into a condo and no more expectations of hauling heavy shit around. Also, I thought it was better looking. ---

According to [this]([Gay-Friendly Cars: Is Subaru Number One? - CBS News](http://www.cbsnews.com/news/gay-friendly-cars-is-subaru-number-one/) CBS news article) CBS news article, Saab is the most _over-represented_ brand for gays and lesbians, followed by Audi, Mini, VW and Jaguar for gays. So maybe you wouldn’t want a Saab hatchback if you’re worried about that. ---
