Threads like [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=519093), I mean. I can understand the reason why they’re closed, but wanted to try to plead the case for a single master nonsense thread to get the stuff out of our system now and then\*. I find the threads fun and amusing at the very least. I can’t really argue they’re productive, but I figure I’d at least ask for having one free-association, higher-than-a-kite, cloud cuckooland thread could be worthwhile from a strict entertainment perspective. - Meaning a single arbitrarily large thread that contains all the nonsense that’s bumped on occasion, no opening new crazy threads. ---

A nonsense thread is prohibited by the rules disallowing post count padding threads. Not saying I agree or disagree with not allowing post count padding threads, just stating why a nonsense thread is very likely to never happen while the aforementioned rule is in practice. ---

[We had this discussion recently](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=512575), and I said I’d be willing to let some nonsense threads go in MPSIMS and see what happens. I can only remember one real nonsense thread being posted since that time, but I haven’t really looked. ---
