And btw, I’d vote to have the real trophy make a trip south if only for a publicity tour - the MCC are full of crap over that one, if they can insure the Tutankhamen treasures they can insure a little pot. ---

Which of course makes it all the more fun to vociferously pretend to the contrary. I think you need to consider the implications of the words “plenty more who seem to make a career out of”. Imagine if I was a rent a quote publicity seeking Aussie minor celebrity wanker living in England, and I were to make a public comment to the effect that I was pretty fond of the place. Big news story there. The tabloids would just lap it up. I can see the headline now. But if I make some comment about the bad plumbing and the terrible food blah blah blah… Now _that’s_ a story. I lived in Finsbury Park for three years. If it weren’t for certain vocational and family considerations, I’d still be living in the UK now. I suppose I’d better mention cricket, just so this isn’t a complete hijack. ---
