Even without the childcare issue and with a dedicated space to work from , it can be difficult for some people. I spent years doing a weird sort of hybrid- I worked in an office every day, but each day it was one of the eight different offices my staff was in. (Except when I had a meeting at yet another office.) Obviously, I could have worked from home if it was allowed - I was already not in seven of the offices I was responsible for on any given day. But I would have been miserable - I would have missed the socialization , in part because there was a lot of information that I could acquire by being there in person that I wouldn’t get through phone calls. I wouldn’t have run errands/shopped during my lunch break - my offices were more convenient than my home for that sort of thing. I would have been bad at work/home boundaries- even now, I check my email when I shouldn’t bother.
