I don’t think this is interesting at all unless you limit it to the Biblical stories. And, of course, it would have to written in modern English.
Because without these, of course it wouldn’t work. No one would want to read a book in ancient languages, and the Bible contains a lot more than just what you would call “fiction.” A heck of a lot of it would fit more in a self-help section.
Not all literature is fiction. The Constitution and the Declaration of Independence are literature.
Not really, no, that is pretty clear from context. It was one of the few biblical stories that made any sense to me, and it was the very first time I’d heard the word Samaritan.
I think it’d have to go into severe 2nd draft to make a clear and contiguous protagonist and antagonist throughout the narrative.
It would also have to be done in multiple books. Joshua fighting the battle of Jericho, over to Jesus, etc would seem very disjointed. There could be a lot of artistic license used to integrate the psalms into the stories (a la Tolkein with his songs).
Also, for it to be really good, it would absolutely have to include the gnostic chapters with Jesus as a child killing and resurrecting people for sport.
The big question would be if the LDS stories would be included in this piece or not.
