Usually when someone gives someone a gift or a card or a keepsake like this, to say thank you or whatever, they don’t do it anonymously. So I’m going with _weirdo._ ETA: Another thing, the item and sentiment seem to be really juvenile. Which adds even more ‘creep’, unless it was from a kid. ---

It’s so obvious, they included a nice tin of homebaked cookies with a note and everything, the ribbon was just a bonus extra. The cookies were stolen by the creepy neighbor. ---

I don’t have any idea who it is. I have some clues (I don’t know if y’all want me to list them or not, I’m not sure they’d mean anything to you) with stuff like the name they used and the handwriting. The two people I suspected were my mom and one kinda-sorta-friend who is seriously socially inept and would totally do something like that, but he says he didn’t and he calls me by a nickname, whereas this had my whole name. I’ve had WAY creepier stuff happen to me before- like a guy who called a few times at night, knew my name, and “just wanted to talk” (asked questions like what I did on the weekends and where I went to school. Obviously I didn’t answer.) Or the guy who was sweet enough, but thought that the best way to get me to like him was to learn a lot of information about me from various sources (things like my sisters’ names and ages, my address, what dance classes I was taking…) and liked showing up unannounced in places where I was (like school, work, dance, my plays, etc.). So I guess my creepy threshold is pretty high. But anyway, I haven’t been carried off by a stalker. I strongly suspect this is someone I know rather than someone who followed me home one day and has been hanging out in the bushes stealing my mail. ---

Shit, I was on the phone with my health insurance company when I read this, and I laughed in the woman’s ear. People don’t leave “creepy mash notes” (which is not I would describe “one of a kind”) on my door, but the last anonymous note I received, I thought little of. Figured it was someone being nice because I helped him out with something, or I’ve been nice, or the person likes sending cards. Whatever, I didn’t think the sender was lurking about, watching me, waiting for me to be away from my inbox to ensure that the creepy note took me by surprise. ---

If it happened in the neighborhood I live in now, I’d be a bit freaked, because I don’t know any of my neighbors and none of the friends who know where I live would do something like that. (Not to mention I live in a neighborhood that’s a bit out of the way - someone would have to make a fair amount of effort to come stick that on our door.) On the other hand, someone left me a vitamin drink in my locker at work with the memo “Let’s stay healthy” or something of that sort. I drank it without a second thought because I know a handful of non-creepy co-workers who actually would do something like that. It all depends on the context. ---

I would only if it happened again, in a similarly anonymous and vague way. That’s a sign someone’s stalking you (or trying to freak you out). And, chances are, it’s just some underdeveloped kid with a crush, but on the off chance it’s someone with an unhealthy obsession (or worse, someone capable of harm)… yeeek. I’d be really curious as to who the hell it was, too. ---

I was being a touch hyperbolic about calling the cops, but I would lock the doors and pull the shades, and be very careful about leaving alone, especially if I was a woman. I’ve known a couple of women who had these secret fans, and it wasn’t pleasant for either of them. ---
