> However, I’d be uncomfortable being dressed in front of a stranger I knew was sexually interested in me so a locker room doesn’t change the equation much

This is exactly the way I feel also.

And I cant believe so many posters in this thread are butthurt over my stance on all this. Get over yourself, you act like your feelings are hurt and you may never recover from this emotionally.

You gays want equal rights, thats fine. But also have some compassion for straight people who also want **their** rights. In this case, my right is simply the same luxury that women have right now, which is separate shower stalls and separate dressing rooms

Care to explain the logic behind your homophobia?

That’s not a right, that’s a privilege.

The only reason I’m not campaigning for unisex changing rooms is I don’t want to upset Anaamika and I don’t really care.

Shower at home and get dressed in a toilet stall if it bothers you.

I already explained it, try to follow the thread.

And why are you gays so butthurt over this?? Is it because you’ve dealt with rejection all your life, and perhaps you feel this is just another rejection??

Okay, then I want that privilege. Just as women enjoy that privilege right now.

I think it may be telling that not a single person in this thread aside from Esco is weirded out specifically by the presence of gay people in changing rooms.

Also I think “the gays” are “butthurt” because they are discriminated against on a daily basis and they’d like to be treated like average people. Because they ARE average people. You’ve argued your reason for why you think you deserve the privilege of being able to sequester gay folks, and the audience has found your argument severely wanting.

That’s how it works in life. You can ask for something, but you’re not necessarily going to get it. Especially not if you’re asking for something that’s discriminatory.

I apologize on behalf of all Canadians.

We’ve had legal same-sex marriage for 8 years now in Canada.

The acceptance of homosexuals is almost universal in our society. I think smokers are thought less of in fact.

Jeezus Christ you’re thick in the head.

I’m not comfortable with some homo checking out my pecker in the shower. How many times do I have to allude to this?!

Same way many women wouldnt be comfortable with that in a unisex change room

I’m trying to understand this. Not being a woman, the analogy doesn’t fly. You’re a man, I presume. You don’t have to be so woman-like about people looking at your body. I’m a straight male, and you don’t have a problem showering with me? Even if I’m checking out your pecker just for kicks?

When you get agitated, your prejudice really shows. A bit more than “a little” homophobic I would say.

I think we’ve covered it several times in the thread that for the most part, nobody cares about anybody else in the shower room. Everyone just wants to do their business and get out. You’re not special.

Skeezeballs are universally found throughout all human society in all walks of life. There is no concentration of skeezeballs in gay people. So there’s no reason to segregate them on the basis this false prejudice.

This has been my point all along. He is a being a total panty waste about this issue. No doubt because of his own perceived inadequacies.

Then stay out of the dressing room? You really seem to be in the minority in this matter so why should everyone else have to scramble and change the way locker rooms work just so you don’t endure for a few minutes a week something many women have to endure on a daily basis? Specifically being oggled by men in a sexual manner.

Look. There’s a big difference between women (and men) being in a unisex changing room and men sharing a men’s changing room with gay men. For women, well over 90% of the men would be straight and (theoretically) have a sexual interest in seeing a naked woman. In your situation (according to recent polls) less than 5% of the men in the men’s changing room have (theoretically) an interest in your pecker. So either it’s time to just start changing at home or in the bathroom stall, or time to realize it’s not that big of a deal.

Naturally, nobody should be making you feel sexually harassed. We’re not saying we should LET people do anything lewd to you. The adult way to handle sexual harassment is to confront it and report it on a case-by-case basis.

Of course, if your report is “I think someone glanced at my penis when everyone was naked in the locker room!” then it may not be taken seriously.
