Right. Without the cultural baggage we’d be Romulan. Cool, sign me up. I’ll trade Kirk pheromone and Kirk-fu to be a Romulan. Hell, the Kirk himself once traded up to be a Romulan. 'Course he still got the girl. ---

Of course, if the entire Trek pantheon was available, I’d probably be a Klingon-Vulcan hybrid, the Logical mind of a Vulcan with the temper of a Klingon plus forehead ridges and pointy ears 😉 ---

Are you sure Pon Farr is is cultural? I don’t remember anything indicating it isn’t biological. Didn’t Spock go through Pon Farr when he was growing up on the Genesis Planet? That would make it pretty biological, I’d think. We don’t know for sure that Romulans _don’t_ go through Pon Farr, do we? And what do we make of those funny brow ridges? They aren’t _quite_ the same as Vulcans. ---

It’s generally accepted in fanon that it’s cultural but there’s nothing in canon that indicates it’s anything other than biological in origin and there’s so little known about Romulans that no one can say one way or the other if they undergo it as well. ---

If not very many people signed up for this, getting a blood transfusion would be a bitch. But me, with the stregnth of 5 men and the Vulcan Nerve Pinch and super smarts… I’d be kicking so many people’s asses all day long I’d be hunted down by the military. ---

Pon Farr has _gotta_ be biological. The episodes in Voyager show that. Also, Romulans seperated from Vulcans a long long time ago during the awakening at the start of the time of reason. They’ve changed and evolved in their own way since then. They are still a passionate people but a Vulcan with no control is not the same a Romulan. Check out Sarek’s behaviour when suffering from Bendii Syndrome and compare it to Romulan behaviour. Or Tuvok’s when they stripped his control from him. Without their discipline Vulcans are wild and dangerous, Romulan’s are not. ---

I’d go for being a Vulcan. Anything that can help quell my never-ending and distracting hunger for sex is a good thing, in my opinion. Everything else about being a Vulcan is a plus…enhanced hearing, super strength, super intellect, longer lifespan. What’s not to love? I’d wager there’d be a never-ending queue of folks who’d pay top dollar to become Vulcan. Also, the Vulcan hair style is definitely cultural, so I could grow and restyle it to my liking. As for the ears? That’s what plastic surgery is for. I think the brows are cool, so I could deal with those quite nicely. I can’t imagine anyone, given the option, _ **not** _ wanting to make the switch. ---

[/QUOTE] The Time of Awakening was only 2,000 years, which is not enough time for Romulans to have become their own distinct species, and Bendii Syndrome is a neurological disease similar to Alzheimer’s so that comparison doesn’t hold. ---
