the two of you were of different “races”? I put that last word inside quotation marks because the concept of race has no real biological validity but it does have some utility in describing how we interact with one another. So here’s the sitch. Let’s say you’re out a hotel bar one night when a Hyper-Attractive Person of the Right Sex and Orientation for You starts chatting you up. Soon it is established that the HAPotRSaOfY desires no more than one night of boot-knocking, to be conducted in his or her room upstairs. The major component of the HAPotRSAOfY’s interest is the fact that your skin colors don’t match; she’s a Kenyan woman whose always wanted to be with a Japanese man, or he’s a Tlingit man whose always wondered what it Irish women were like in bed, or whatever matches your race and gender. Assuming you would otherwise be willing to have a safer-sex one-night stand, do you continue with the assignation? Poll in a moment. The results will be private because I am not an idiot; the question will be aimed only at persons willing to have one-nighters because I’m picky. ---

I was going to say “oh hell yeah.” But then I realized race has nothing at all to do with that decision. Currently I’m single and unattached. I’d have sex with ANY desirable female right now. And I do mean right now! Race has nothing at all to do with it, however a Kenyan gymnast sounds about right. ---

Whoa, I’m first? I’m never first on these things. I chose the “sure because it’s all objectifying anyway”. Anyway, your stipulation would be a bad one, because it would introduce new variables into the equation, just as aiming the poll at persons not willing to have one-night stands on principle would. If I were single and met, say, the redheaded woman from MAD MEN and she came on to me for whatever reason, I’d not be tempted because I don’t find her all that pretty. But if it were Elisabeth Moss, who is all kinds of hot in my eyes, it would be another story. Of course it’s possible there are racist pigs on the board who would immediately eliminate the hottie from contention for being of a different race, but hopefully they’ll stay out of the thread and/or accidentally trip and fall and break their typing fingers. I’m not into one-night stands. No judgement, I tried it, hated it, don’t need to re-test the waters. But even back when I would have found this insulting. There were a whole lot of guys who wanted me because I had blonde hair, blue eyes, and the right figure. It was the bane of my existence, the way these guys came along lying and fronting just in order to “get” those boxes checked on their imaginary scorecard. :stops to vomit: So yeah, this would have been equally revolting to me. I wish you had made separate answer lines for me and women. I’m betting there’s a male/female gap a mile wide on this one. ---

All of this being said I don’t exactly understand the point of the poll then. You might as well have said “Will you do a one night stand” because that’s all it boils down to, not the whole racial thing. Like I said, I don’t care how or why you want to sleep with me for a night, if I think you’re hot then I’m gonna go for it no questions asked. And your last paragraph is especially confusing then because you specifically said you DON’T want racist assholes to comment in this thread, so you’re excluding the only people filling out the poll that wouldn’t have a “yes” for an answer other than “no because I don’t want to have a one night stand…period.” ---
