# Would you buy a stickshift car in 2022?

I think [this '21 Dope thread](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/why-do-you-prefer-a-stick-shift-over-an-automatic-transmission/919279) was the most recent one.

There are still quite a few vehicles available with manual transmission according to [Car and Driver](http://caranddriver.com/features/g20734564/manual-transmission-cars/).

I drive a stick and enjoy it. One factor that likely is helping drive decline of the stick is the rise of automatic transmissions that are said to get significantly better mileage.
