Would you call the ELF's action's Terrorism?

Perhaps this is all you feel, CarnalK, I see such attacks as evidence that there are people in this country who are entirely disinterested in “the system” and entirely confident of their right to blow things up. That scares me.

Despite this stated purpose, “to reveal and educate the public on the atrocities committed against the earth and all species that populate it,” they don’t submit papers for scientific conferences, they don’t speak at public meetings, they don’t (in any district I’m aware of) send letters to elected and appointed officers, they don’t write to major shareholders, etc. Additionally, in every case where I’ve seen someone from ELF or Earth First quoted in the news, they’ve talked pure smack.

And by “reveal the public” - does this mean I’ll be kidnapped and forced to film a “Revealed, with Jules Asner” or stripped in public?

By the way, when you bomb buildings, you usually kill all the rats and mice and stray cats who live the building - and their innocent babies!!!

There are legal ways to do this without blowing up animal research facilities and spiking trees. But like all terrorists, they do not feel non-violent methods like boycotts or legislation are working fast enough for their tastes.

What personal connection does an embassy or a 110 story office tower have? Not much unless you happen to work there.

I agree that there are legal alternatives. Thus they are criminals. Violence != terrorism.

An embassy represents your country and many take their country personally. Quite honestly, I thought you were one of them.

Are you thinking of any 110 story building in particular? Because I can’t honestly think of any unoccupied 110-story buildings that have been attacked and called terrorism.

I don’t want to seem like trying to get the last word but I think my point is clear: terrorism requires a direct threat to peoples lives and safety, property damage does not really do this IMHO. Their actions are dangerous and criminal but labelling them “terrorist” is a political ploy and misleading.
