I debated whether to put this in IMHO or here, but it’s about food, so CS wins. Mods, please move if necessary. Question’s simple: If Mars made a Raisin variety of M&Ms, do you think you’d like to try them? I’ve thought for years that this would be a good idea, but I never really did anything about it until just recently, when I suggested it to Mars through the “Contact Us” link at the M&Ms website. Brachs Chocolate covered raisins have been popular for all my life and my moms. dipping them in a candy shell wouldn’t be hard. But, I’d prefer the Brachs myself. The crunch of the hard shell doesn’t appeal to me with a raisin inside. ---

Yech. I can only eat raisins plain. An an ingredient in anything else, no way. ---

I like chocolate covered raisins and M&Ms. so why not combine them. Two great tastes that taste great together. You know, that could be their advertising jingle! ---

Oh, don’t be mad! It’s a pretty nice form of brush-off: they even suggest that they might already be working on just that idea! It’s a great example of what legal CYA looks like in the intellectual property world. Imagine what would happen if they replied “That sounds great - we’ll get right on it!” and ended up with a run-away smash hit. Plenty of people truly feel one way before some kind of success, and very differently after it - just ask anyone who’s married a rich person, ex-band members, friends of inventors. 😉 Don’t take it personally. ---

I hate raisins. Raisins in cookies are particularly cruel. You think it’s going to be a chocolate chip cookie. But no. It’s a cookie with dried out grapes. ---

Now , if you inserted some chocolately goodness between the raisin and the candy shell (a la peanut M&Ms), that would be an entirely different kettle of fish. ---

I got a couple of coupons out of Mars years ago when I sent them some negative feedback about a new LifeSavers flavor. Specifically, I said that the Hot Fruits flavor was “some of the most disgusting candy I’ve ever had in my mouth (and I’ve been to England).” As for raisin M&Ms, I would at least try them. The part that makes me dislike Raisinets is the shellac glaze. A candy shell would be an improvement over that. ---

I’d go for it. I like chocolate covered raisins and adding a candy shell sounds like a good idea. But I’d rather see orange-flavored M&M’s first. ---
