There was a _Twilight Zone_ episode that pretty much addressed this question. A lady was given a box with a button on it. All she had to do was push the button and she would get something (money?) and someone she didn’t know would die. She debated and fretted until finally she pushed the button. Immediately a man showed up to to retrieve the box and give her whatever. The really creepy part was the response she got when she asked what would happen to the box next. The man looked at her and said, “It’ll be reset and given to someone you don’t know.” ---

No, I would never kill a perfect stranger for any kind of money. I’d be tempted to turn that gun on the guy who’s dealing that kind of deals. I don’t think I really have it in me. If you could convince me it was for some greater good, perhaps. But for money, or even revenge . . . nope. There are people who I wish would fall into some sort of temporal distortion and pop out of existance, but I don’t really wish even them DEAD. ---

We have a good mix going on here. The group I hang out with ask this one of any new person, as well as another “Million dollar question” that I’ll post later… FTR- It was an episode of Twilight Zone, it was a couple that was fighting about money, and this strange man showed up with a briefcase and a box with a single red button. He told them that they would get the briefcase full of $1,000,000 if they could push the button, but someone “you don’t…even…know.” would die. After agonziing, they push the button. The rest is as jesuslynch said. Now then- personally I think I could do it… hell, I’ve come close enough for free, a million dollar pay off would be icing. I would do it, and sleep well that night. Some folks go on about how a mil isn’t much, but what do they know? Me, I could make a mil go faaaar… and pay for both my kids collage, and mine, if I ever go. Then again, I have sort of an odd take on a lot of this sort of thing. so I suppose it’s to be expected. Thanks to all who’ve replied!! ---

Im not worried about being judged or torched in hell or anything like that. The only reason I wouldnt do it is simply because i wouldnt want it done to me.
