…just because they were famous? [This guy got an autograph of George W. Bush](http://www.sportsgraphing.com/thread145011.html). Even if you reviled George Bush, would you want an autograph of his? Would you want an autograph of, I don’t know, OJ Simpson? ADOLF HITLER HIMSELF? ---

Yes, because I like money. Hitler autographs seem to sell for a couple thousand bucks. ---

I’d like to display a painting of W and Hitler next to each other and right next to them have a loop on HDTV of a Cheney interview. ---

I think I would like an autograph of somebody I hate even more than one from someone that I admire. I would frame it in a really ugly frame and hang in an out of the way place (maybe a corner of a bathroom). It would be like imprisoning a little piece of their soul in a tasteless way. ---

There are few people I actually hate (I prefer to put them on a real life sort of ignore list) but - no. Few autographs of todays figures and stars have any hope of being rare or valuable in the future and asking for one would mean acknowledging their existence. ---

Autographs are difficult. It depends on the person. Also, if you follow the rules of “hating the person” isn’t there a good chance they’d hate back? Why would they spend those 2 cents of ink then, even if the ink signature looked like the single crappiest debit card signature ever signed at a check-out? Sometimes its hard to tell when someone hates you too. Sometimes it takes all of their crap friends to “showcase” their finer qualities. Yeah, you know where that ink goes, points & all. And if you’re too cheap, you just feel free to heat up a brand. ---

I did this once for a friend. I was at a sci-fi convention where XYZ was the guest – and I fucking despise XYZ. I wouldn’t piss on him if he were on fire. But an out-of-town pen-pal really adores XYZ, and begged me to get his autograph. Sigh. So I stood in line, smiled, thanked XYZ, feeling much like a hypocrite, and dutifully mailed the book to my friend. ---

I suppose for some of the reasons outlined here: my monetary gain (not theirs), for a friend or family member (and that one is situational). I might do it if an autograph would help provide criminal evidence somehow (I think CSI is corrupting me here). I might do it to inconvenience them, if I had nothing better to do. “Make it out to ‘Aunt Pansy’, she met you once in 1982, but you were too busy to talk. Or was that 1983. You remember right? She had a blue shirt on. You were in that movie. You remember, right? It was at the diner. You know, with the guy? You ate food. Remember? Oh, shoot, this pen is dead. Do you have a pen? Oh, you’re in a hurry? This won’t take a minute. Can someone take a picture?” ---

I don’t hate him, but I had an autograph from OJ. Really surreal, for me, because Nicole was with him when I met him. I don’t do the autograph thing anymore, but if I thought I could flip it, I’d do it. ---

No, I wouldnt. Because it would involve a level of ‘making nice’ that would amount to being two faced. For an autograph? Nope, not going to happen. And no, I really don’t care if it’d be worth money. Even a lot of money.
