> working at a fabrication company in 2001 i was hired at around 17.50 plus company paid my car bill, around $450. Just a 9 to 5er making parts on machines.
>
> Became manager around 2003 and went to about $24 hr plus car was paid off, and was offered 1% of total profit for the year. Didn’t care to much about the 1% profit sharing in fact i made a big stick about it, but when the first year I got a check for about 11k and the next year it was about 24k. After that it leveled back to around 10k a year.
>
> They also matched the profit if we put it into a charles schwab MMA account. I did this for a year or two but decided the money in my bank was better for me at the time.
>
> Becoming a manager was more money, and the job was to make sure production stayed where it was at or better.
> 2008 laid off when company moved, recieved a bill from company to pay back a weeks pay (around 7 or 8 hundred) Compained that this was unfair, upper management was not pleased with the HR mistake and gave me a 10k severance.
>
> Working at a radio shack a long long time ago, i made around $400 a week. Went to assistant manager and pay went down to $350 and lost all perks like selling spiffs. Also alot more stress involved.
>
> Different companies treat people / workers completely different. **Now self employed and glad that I make more and work less**.

> Well when I was 21 my credit wasn’t so good on top of the fact that I only made around 17 a hour. Since then I have purchased my own home without any help and have come a long way finacially. That was also about 4 cars ago, all of which were paid for by me, and they were all about 20k cars ie. Chevy blazer, trooper, s-10, and a infiniti. This was over 13 years ago, no such help is needed now. In fact if a business purchased needed (say we were at a show) to be made it is not even a thing for me to cover a few thousand dollars at a show expo and not say anything about it until much later. I still am definitely living within my means. If i were to loose everything financially and not have another penny come in, my current home and all cars would still never need to be given up. A buggati Veyron IS OUT OF MY MEANS THOUGH. If we all went to a conference and all employees didn’t receive there per diem since accounting has yet to arrive, then I would definitely be the one looked upon to pay for the hotel x 10, and meals x 10. I don’t pay for drinks though, pet peeve.

> Boss can’t be jealous, the last i checked CEO’s make around 1,700 dollars (ballpark figure) for every dollar made by the average worker. But instead of doing nothing with the money she helps and invests in people. Buying a house and paying for my surgery when i was just a teenager has given her a lifetime supply of respect and hard work from me, all for the price of a happy meal in her eyes. We often joke about how i never ask for anything anymore.
>
> The difference between me and other employees is that at 5:01 PM, not a single employee will answer a the phone, or there cell phones if it is me calling. ME? I answer the phone at 11pm to start design on a new logo to be shown in a complete mock up in the morning. Then a call at midnight to pick up a important business guest from overseas. It wouldn’t be uncommon to take her Asian partners out to shoot and see a gun for the very first time. **To me, this job is not a work, it’s a lifestyle where i live, breathe, eat and shit job x. My pay represents never being off.**

How do you reconcile these two posts?
