Good actors can appear in bad movies, so I never go with star appeal no matter how much I may like the actor. Witness Jack Nicholson in that awful Adam Sandler movie. I pay more attention to directors. Conversely, crappy actors can actually be good in the right project and with the right director. ---

[/QUOTE] I recall both of you mentioning your Alyson Hannigan crushes from past _Buffy_ threads, and I’ve always been fond of her too. But even I knew better than to see the execrable-looking _Date Movie!_ Wow, that looked awful, and I hate the whole trend of _Scary/Date/Epic Movies_ that throw bad slapstick gags and outdated pop culture references at their youth demographics in rapid fire succession, hoping to capitalize on the humor of movies like \*Airplane! \* and _The Naked Gun_ without realizing what made them so funny in the first place. But **JoeSki** , I have to admit, I really like \*How I Met Your Mother \* on the rare occasions I remember to watch it. The writers never gave Alyson much to do, but I think it’s a pretty funny show, head and shoulders above most network sitcoms. Neil Patrick Harris is hilarious in it, Jason Segal is always fun to watch, and Alyson and the dark-haired girl, Cobie Smulders, are both adorable. The only one I don’t like is the “lead” guy. ---

[/QUOTE] I actually hate those kinds of movies too (as well as _Airplane!_, _The Naked Gun_ series, and pretty much every Mel Brooks movie ever made) but I have a soft spot for romantic comedies and her starring was the tipping point. ---

Call me an old softie, but watching a girl act horribly ruins her sex appeal. Milla Jovovich is dead to me, on account of complete incompetence. Same thing happens to a lot of pornstars that come across my monitor (so to speak). I have to respect a woman to find her attractive. I know, I’m the only one. One actress–_just one_–can do this to me: Jenny Agutter in late 70s and 80s movies. Yum. And, er, totally before my time. (Logan’s Run was a little surreal for me, since her character was named Jessica and she looked _almost exactly_ like my then-recent ex named Jessica in that movie.) ---

Can’t say that I have. I’m generally pretty oblivious to who’s in what to begin with. Closest I came was when I watched **Showgirls** not because I found the actress hot (she didn’t really do it for me) but because I grew up watching **Saved by the Bell** and curiosity to see her naked was my main driving force in watching that movie. I also only saw it because a friend had it on tape that I borrowed. ---

I saw “Home Fries” because of Drew Barrymore. Alicia Silverstone’s incredible hotness on the “Clueless” poster (the first time I saw it, my heart actually stopped for a second!) made me first in line for that film. ---
