The gas AC wastes is so trivial in the first place. We’re talking less than 5% of your gas bill, if you blast it non-stop the entire time you’re driving. It takes a hell of a lot of hippy douchebaggery and/or masochism to justify sweating like a pig over saving $1-2 at the pump. I live in Arizona. Someone doesn’t use the A/C here, i’d throw them out the window. I’d say whatever rules the group goes by should be followed by all of them, else joe schmoe doesn’t need to be a part of it anymore, because it’s obviously bothering the people who are willing to make the Extreme\* wallet hit to make the drive pleasant for everyone. -Collab \*note: sarcasm has been known to the State of California to cause cancer in the lab rats recycled from the “Just how stupid are they?” study. ---

In fact, as long as it doesn’t get TOO hot, I keep the windows rolled up, too. I don’t have a/c at home, so driving home from work, I kind of like to semi-cook in the car and then it feels like pretend a/c when I get out! 😃 [sub]Yes, I take care to notice how I’m feeling, etc. If I got too hot, I would open windows or turn a/c on in a second.[/sub] ---

I would just quit the car pool. Then I would start my own carpool and invite the other two to join it. This is the same as kicking Chilly Willy out but with a more positive slant. ---

Yeah, boot her. An energy guy on NPR last week talked about this last week. According to him, you lose about a mile a gallon using AC, and about a mile a gallon with windows down. ---

I would tell her that I don’t like it and think it is inconsiderate. I would tell her that my hair and makeup is getting blown around by the wind. And I would ask her to turn on the AC. I would do all this as nicely as possible, but I also wouldn’t think that I would have the authority to kick this person out of the car pool if she doesn’t want to turn on the AC - nobody made me king of the carpool. I’d just take my business elsewhere. Easy and simple as that. Although, if one of the other two ladies felt that she had the authority to kick her out, I wouldn’t stop her. ---

Twice that would be a serious threat to my health via heat stroke. ---

Your southern temperatures would kill me, AC or not.
