It’s going to be a long, long year.
Eeek. Do you really want to be hooking your kid on soda while s/he’s young enough to be using a sippy cup???
Here in my hometown, there is a local pizza joint that sells discount cards where you buy one large, get another large free.
The other day hubby called to order 2 pizza pies. Told the lady about the discount card but said he only needed a medium for the second pizza (we were going out of town the next morning and didn’t want leftovers). The lady said she could not apply the “get one free” discount to a medium pizza, only a large.
“Oh,” he said, “I thought you’d want to make more profit if you could.” No response. So he ordered the large and we threw away the leftovers.
On a related note, if you want to have fun with the folks at the fast food chains, try ordering a combo with a SMALL fry.
“Yes, I’d like a grilled chicken combo, with a diet coke and a SMALL serving of fries.”
“Ma’am, our combos come with a mega size.”
“I realize that. Can you just give me a small instead? I don’t need or want a triple serving of fries.”
“I can give you a small. But I’ll have to put it in a la carte, which means you’ll lose the combo discount.”
“So there’s no way you can charge me for a combo, and then walk over to that fry stand and grab me a small fry instead of a megasize fry?”
They look at you as if you have sprouted three heads.
It’s a ridiculous policy to charge less for more food. Why not allow customers to downsize the order for the same price? (Hint: They’d make more $$$!) I don’t like throwing 2/3 of my fries in the garbage can, but I’ll do it if the restaurant won’t let me get the discount without ordering it that way.
I just KNEW someone would say this–but I had already posted before I thought about it!
I don’t give her sodas from the fountain–just lemonade or punch–and occasionally tea. She 13 months old and usually all she drinks is milk, juice or water and I figure the occasional sweet drink isn’t going to kill her!
Oh, okay. Sorry if I seemed judgmental, but I honestly believe that excessive consumption of sodas is a major cause of the obesity epidemic in the USA. There’s just something downright addictive about carbonated drinks. I mean, how many people would chug 32 oz. of water, unless they were just finishing a marathon or something? And yet every day you’ll see a steady stream of people clutching a SuperMegaWhammoGulp sized soda to sustain them during the exertion of a half hour drive…
