Prefer to the current situation? Yeah. The way things are today is bad, and this would at least cut out gun violence and remove something that makes violence to easy.
Prefer as the actual solution? HELL NO. Not unless a lot of other things about this world fundamentally change. People need guns to hunt, to defend their property when the police are far away. And I genuinely believe that going that far is too much limitation on personal freedom, given that private ownership is still possible in other countries without the problems we have in the US today.
Because we are fighting a propaganda machine that tries to shut down all discussion about gun control by turning everything we say into “they want to take our guns away.”
I actually suspect that you set up the thread the way you did because it would force those of us who think the current situation is a problem to choose to take guns away. But that’s only because you removed any other choice.
So, to counter that, I had to make a post saying that I don’t want to take everyone’s gun’s away. I also have no intention of actually voting in a push poll.
See, this is exactly the bad sort of logic I was talking about. You assume that people would only vote for the “no private ownership” if that’s what they actually want.
But, no. All it means is that people think “no private ownership” is at least slightly better than the way things are now. You can still compare negative numbers, after all.
I hate raw celery. I also hate soft-boiled eggs. If someone made a poll where I had to pick one or the other, and I chose the celery, would that mean I was pro-celery? Of course not. It’s just the lesser of two evils.
