Pineapple is fine on a pizza, but it’s not a normal go-to for me. I’ve found it pairs way better with spicy salty pepperoni than with the typical, boring Canadian bacon. ---

The more so if all he wanted was one arguably distasteful ingredient on top of an existing chinese dish. ---

Heck, the original article from the OP had the owner talking about them having to go out and buy-in the pineapple pizza from some other restaurant for that special $15K shindig. And that was still anathema to our prima donna, and now ex-, chef. As said by others above, clearly the pineapple bit is a click bait hook for the article, and for the chef’s unemployment / wrongful termination claim. The reality of the total (un-)employment situation was surely bigger and more complex and about many larger things. ---
