I did have to pay for a blocking service on my phone, though (back in the landline days). So I’ll say giving. It has never lasted very long, and since I never acted on it (object was always far away, unavailable, or too old), I didn’t get the pain of rejection. Have a child who literally never grows up, or one who grows up to be a really despicable person. ---
