My twin is a Croatian contractor based in Afghanistan. Not surprisingly, I’ve never met her. When I was in Ireland last, I was getting off the plane wandering around looking for transportation. I saw a guy there standing in a tourist group that I knew pretty well. Played volleyball with and against him for years, saw socially, coached his kids. Walked up to him and said “Hey Tim, what the hell you doing in Ireland? What are the odds? Kinda crazy to see you here!” He replied in German. Amazing doppelganger. ---

There’s a fellow in my town who looks identical to me in every respect. Unfortunately, he is crazy as a coot and dangerous to boot. I first met him as his criminal defence lawyer. ---

I would recognize my twin if he had a beard similar to mine. If he was clean shaven it might be a problem, because I don’t remember what my chin and the skin around my mouth look like. If he had more facial hair than I do it would obstruct my view of his jaw line and/or cheeks. ---

I’ve seen my doppelgänger a couple of times. I knew he existed because I’d sit down in a restaurant and the waitress would start up a conversation like she knew who I was. Also, there’s not a whole lot of asians in this town. Now I’d never approach him and ask him if he thought I looked like him because, well, I’m fatter. I’ve lost a bit of weight though, so we’re probably approaching similar physiques. I’ve always said, oh yeah, that’s my evil twin getting drunk in bars and acting like an asshole. In reality, I’m the evil twin, because, well, I am a derelict. ---

One of my aunts has a picture hanging on her wall of a couple of guys in academic garb, one handing a diploma to the other. The first time I saw it, I was wondering why she had a picture of my graduation. Then I looked closer and realized that the _other_ guy in the picture was one of her sons, and the guy who looked like me was the professor or dean or whatever who was handing him the diploma.
