It’s a cheap gotcha and you all know it. Or is it really your contention that every presidential candidate should know the name of every foreign leader? Trump and the audience know it, and that’s why the response and the cheers. Trump exposes them for what they’re up to and the audience recognizes and applauds it. The audience knows that should it become necessary to know the name of Zimbabwe’s president once he’s in the White House, Trump is more than capable not only of learning it but that he’d likely handle whatever was going on better than pretty much anyone else. Anyone who thinks this is about celebrating ignorance for its own sake is not very bright themselves. ---

No, I don’t expect a candidate to know the names of every world leader, but I expect them to care about international relations, and not be dismissive of world leaders for applause lines. This was just an Imus fantasy, and I don’t know if Imus was “celebrating” this sort of thing or mocking it. But you seemed to be celebrating it – celebrating ignorance and the dismissal of world leaders. Not a big deal, not the end of the world. An extremely minor thing.
