Wow...being 30-something kind of sucks!

The thirties are not bad at all. I am married to a wonderful woman, and we have a great kid. What sucked was turning 29, because no one will believe you, especially if it’s your birthday.

“How old are you?”

Me: “Twenty-nine.”

(Knowing nod) “Oh, okay.”

I can’t wait for thirty nine.

Come and be a gay man. At 30, practically everyone is single or still screwing around, it’s normal to go clubbing and do Stupid Things, plus the music’s better!

Happy days! I can’t wait til I’m 30.

Why not? I mean, why will no one believe me? Is it because everyone uses this age?

I’ll trade you being thirysomething for being fortysomething!!

For some reason, people who are in denial about their real age tend to claim that they’re only twenty-nine or thirty-nine, whichever they think they can get away with.

OIC. that’s what I thought. No worries, I have a baby face, so I look even younger than 29 most of the time.

I’ve recently been noticing that I find people in their 30’s (usually) looking better than they did when they were in their late teens or early 20’s, but I’ve also wondered if it’s a kind of biased opinion because I myself am 31. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who thinks this.

I don’t know about that theory.

Kind of a sobering thought: I’m 37, married for 13 years, no kids, 4 cats… and when I was 34, I had already lost almost a dozen friends of my age or younger! Drowning, fire, overdose, mass suicide (!)… one by one, they went away… and here I am and enjoying myself! I’m learning who I am, who I was, and starting to think about who I want to become…
So don’t sweat your 20’s - come through in one piece, and in some circles, you’re doing okay…

D

Of course, I meant to say “Don’t sweat your 30’s…” Do whatever you want with your 20’s! :stuck_out_tongue:

Just an opinion.

I was personally surprised to actually make it to my thirtieth birthday.

Oh, man, I love my 30s so far.

28 - Working for a failing .COM. Living in a shared apartment with a girlfriend that isn’t what I want but I can’t break up with her because she’s totally dependent on me to keep her stable and I am too stupid to realize that this is never going to change.

29 - no job, almost evicted from my apartment, finally got job as a contractor, so broke I couldn’t make rent where I was living. Couldn’t make s

30 - Slightly better, but live alone in a boring little town in England, no friends outside of work, no girlfriend, almost have to start importing women from the States to have a date at all. But work is slightly better

31 - Rockin’ times abound. I have a great group of friends, mostly older than me with a few exceptions, who are really fun to hang out with. I have a great girlfriend, a wonderful house share arrangement in London, do different things (sometimes in different countries) about every other week, travel for work, and really feel like life is actually on track for once…
