When they first start the engine the camel really rocks from side to side, it does seem ready to tip over just sitting there. I can’t believe men went to battle in those machines, held together with fabric and wire they were a handful to fly without out somebody shooting at you.
Yes- in the British Air Forces of the time (they had various names) it was reported that 50% of the casualties came from training. So training was as dangerous as combat.
