A couple months back I decided to check out covers of “And Your Bird Can Sing”, and watched about a dozen. Most were competent instrumental versions, or were similar (but slightly inferior) to the original. My favorite was from the animated [Beat Bugs show, and features Regina Spektor](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hpCO31x0G3M) on vocals. It deletes the song’s sarcastic edge, and adds a bunch of visual sugar. So, it’s different, but still fun. Runners up: A little handmade Etsy version performed with [muted trumpet and f-hole guitar](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7lOmQ0AArAE). And a street concert version by [I Fight Dragons](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A6EXEHQvnew) that mixes up the arrangement just enough. ---

It’s a “cover” masterpiece: sublime interpretation; mesmerizing cadenza.
