Yesterday at work, the muzak had a song that intrigued me. It was a cover of the Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams”. They traded the synthesizer for a xylophone, and gave it sort of a Calypso feel. If they had hired a better singer, it might have been good. ---

Rory had something that was good in the studio, but amazing in a live setting. Chuck Prophet’s another one of these. The studio version of, “Doubter out of Jesus” is kind of, no pun intended, lifeless, but his performance on Letterman(posted on Youtube) takes it to the next level. Even his club performances are like this. Youtube has been incredible for seeing performers live, as I’m old enough to remember when The Midnight Special and Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert were your best way to see live music, back when we had 3 channels to choose from. ---

Last night I ran across this Josh Turner cover of Turn To Stone. The actual songs starts a few minutes after where I have it cued up to. I cued it up to a spot where she briefly plays a ‘nose flute’, something I’d never heard of before.
