[Gregg Allman’s version of _Midnight Rider_](https://youtu.be/yojZ-Ksr8AE) is my favorite version of [the Allman Brothers song.](https://youtu.be/O6Q40nZRRco) The Molly Hatchett version of [Dreams (I’ll never see)](https://youtu.be/jTZHHQplIX8?t=5) is a great version of [the Allman Brothers song, _Dreams_](https://youtu.be/ESDqkzZOQCo). Not _better_, but different and good in it’s own way. The best covers take a song and give it a twist only the new artist could, and make it a wonderful new thing all its own, and Molly Hatchet did just that. They added, “(I’ll never see)” to the title of their song, which I thought was unusual, but perhaps helps distinguish their version from the original. ---

My vote goes to Springsteen’s version of [Stayin Alive](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n1GT-VjjVs) Its right up there with the Miley Cyrus version of 50 ways to leave your lover on an anniversary special of SNL. I have not found a great online clip of this one. She also does several great covers in her “backyard sessions” - all on Youtube. ---
