I love this strip, and today John knocked it out of the park. Had to share.

Optimistic alternative – the signed copies were worth a lot of money.

Is the bear comment a reference to Shardik in the Roland story?

So, _Dork Tower_ would contain a _Dark Tower_ reference? Oooh, almost-meta!

When I read this ‘strip’ today, my first thought was “This is fresh! Now there’s an angle that hasn’t been explored, even by Tom Batiuk!” (his _Funky Winkerbean_ and _Crankshaft_ characters have gotten more depressed, and feeling more and more sorry for themselves over the years).

My second thought was “Hmmm, I bet this was auto-biographical for John Kovalic.”
So tomorrow I’m hitting Frugal Muse (used bookstore in Madison, WI) to see if there’s a _Cache of Kovalic™_ for the taking…
