Forget scarves. Try knitted animation. 
I made a sweatshirt for Halloween. I got a black sweatshirt and a bottle of sorta-3D white ink. Using this, I drew a picture of the construction of the mathematical curve known as the Witch of Agnesi
I did my best to make the construction look like that "stickman figure used as a symbol in the movie mentioned below. Then I lettered it, making the lettering resemble that on the movie poster for The Blair Witch Prokject. Only, of course, it said:
The Witch of Agnesi Project
I have worn that shirt to science fiction conventions, to MIT, and to parties filled with highly technical people. Not one single person seems to have recognized it.
Although it’s possible that some of them do, and think it’s so silly that they don’t want to encourage me with comments.
Naaah. They can’t all be that discreet. he joke’s just too obscure.
