That’s known as “tuckerization” for Wilson “Bob” Tucker, who would put friends’ names in his stories as a joke.

In the sf community. I don’t know that the term has ever been heard outside it. But then, only mystery comes close to the level of author/reader incestuousness that sf/f wallows in.
