# Writing a fan letter. No address.

My 8-year-old daughter is quite taken with Reese Witherspoon and was thrilled to see in the grocery-store checkout line that Ms. Witherspoon is expecting a baby. I suggested she write Reese a letter, congratulating her and requesting an autorgraph or even a signed photo.
Well, this she did and it’s quite a sweet little letter. She cooed over Reese’s daughter Ava (whose middle name is the same as my daughter’s) and even told her all about her newly born twin cousins who live in Nashville, Reese’s hometown. We’ve enclosed her school picture. Next step, hop on the internet and nab her postal address, or agent’s address, or whatever …
Well, I’ve been googling til my googlers are raw. The best source seems to be a site called [http://contactanycelebrity.com/](http://contactanycelebrity.com/). Trouble is they want cash for a three-day trial membership, which would be fine since I only want the one address. The trouble is, I just don’t want to pay ANYTHING. It’s just an address! Shouldn’t it be available, somewhere?
I see on this site they have their info in book form. I’ll suppose I could check at the library next time I’m there … but since it’s a branch I’m not incredibly hopeful.
Call me a cheapskate if you want. I will fork over the cash if I can’t get the address any other way, of course, since I instigated this little Home Writing Project.
**Question #2** – Assuming I get the address, what’s the protocal for securing an autograph or photo? I’m thinking I should send a self-addressed stamped envelope.

As for you second question I have no idea how to go about getting an signed autograph. I’ve gotten two in my life. One from Christian Slater which I just basically wrote a fan letter. Second one was from Rob Schneider which my 6th grade teach got because she’s his sister.

From what I can discern, Reese Witherspoon is currently represented by Bymel Mgmt, which would make **arachnidlove** ’s second link the one to use.
You might try sending her a picture that you already have (from a magazine or whatever) and asking her to sign it. A SASE couldn’t hurt, I suppose.

I’m still trying to send this letter for my daughter, and still looking for help.
The second link provided by **arachnidlove** listed the Bymel Mgmt address, and invited me to double-check others’ success with writing to the star at a site called [Star Archive](http://www.stararchive.com/). I dutifully went there, and found that several people writing to this address had their letters returned – more than a year ago.
This is awfully perplexing to me. It doesn’t seem like it would be that hard to obtain a celebrity’s fan-mail address.
I’ve tried Googling Reese Witherspoon Fan Club, address, agent, etc., and gotten nothing. Any master Googlers out there who’d like to take pity on me would be appreciated. I’m sorta tapped out.

**Stop the presses!**
I have about 80 browser windows open, and I happen to see on IMDB a link for agent! I certainly wish I’d started with what I know instead of slogging through all these fan sites. There it was, big as life, the William Morris Agency, complete with a telephone number. A quick phone call to Beverly Hills and I verify that they represent her, and even got the name of her agent.
There is now joy in Fanville. The mighty Mommy has not struck out.

I’m glad to hear that Zebra! I want all celebrities to be nice people. I can’t imagine it’s easy. Though it was fun seeing her as a normal person in some of the photos my daughter and I pulled up on the internet, it was also sort of sad. She was just out strolling her baby, or shopping, and BAM someone jumped out and took her picture.
Jeff, that’s one of the old ones that was frustrating me so. Look at imdb if you are truly interested.
