From what I’ve read, he was always just very uppity and condescending when he really didn’t need to be. I say, Good Riddance. ---

Not wanting to dance on anyone’s virtual grave (I gave up dancing years ago), there’s a general lesson that can be gleaned from this. When you’re discussing favourite music, football teams, or television shows with your close friends, it’s quite OK to question their sanity, laugh at their pea-brainedness or suggest that they are severely lacking in the genitalia department. When you’re in the social part of a fine message board (let’s call it ‘Cafe Society’ or ‘MPSIMS’ on the SDMB), it’s not such a good idea.
