WTC, Ammunition sales are up.

Not to mention a prior knowledge of the event in question. A hallmark of a terrorist attack seems to be that it is a sudden, surprise assualt that occurs with very little or no warning. So now what, oh mighty armed populace?

There is no point in shooting at the barn door after the horse has left.

Otherwise, all you’re doing is demonstrating that some of the cockroaches in this sad affair don’t speak Arabic.

It is my opinion that this thread ended with Tranquilis’ post.

That is all.

:snicker:

Thanks for the laugh.

I apologize to all for being so knee jerky. I’ve always had the tendency to lash out, usually to my detriment.
And I apologize to AquaPure for that cut about his job.
Anyway, there’s nothing wrong with purchasing ammo. In the old days, it used to be called “being prepared”.

I’m not suggesting anyone launch a Pogrom against muslims.
I’m not suggesting anyone run amok with guns blazing.
I’m not suggesting a gun will bring down a 747.

What I’m suggesting is that our way of life can be disrupted rather easily. Look at what happened Tuesday morning. Please dont make fun of us who choose to be prepared.

I agree with the posters who think the sudden stockpiling is a gut fear reaction. I have heard guys at work all day talking about getting new guns, or thinking about it, or possibly just getting more bullets…“just in case.”

My nephew actually did go buy a lot of ammunition for his considerable collection of guns. (He collects, is a hunter, trades,etc…i.e. Gun Fanatic). I know it’s merely a security blanket for him. He knows it’s not going to stop any missiles, jets, or hand grenades.

My own husband even asked me yesterday if I thought we should buy another handgun. We have one, a rather old one, that currently would serve a better purpose by being thrown at an enemy than by shooting it.

I just looked at him and said, “Why?”

He replied, “Hell, I dunno. It just seems like we ought to…for protection.”

Fat lot of good a new .38 or .357 will provide if they start aiming flame-throwers, Uzis or bazookas (do they still even use those anymore?) at us.

I think he got the point. We didn’t get a new gun. And as far as I know, no ammo for the old one yet, either.
