Ok, this might be a stupid question. A friend sent me a clip of the final scene of the season finale of Fox’s “Fringe” as I’m a alternate history fan ([http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qfjMraEE7o](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qfjMraEE7o) ). In the clip, the main character, FBI Agent Olivia Dunham, ends up in an alternate universe where the WTC still stands. As the scene pulls ways, there seems to be a satellite dish near the top of the tower she’s in (2:34 in the clip). Did this dish actually exist in the real WTC and what was its function?

I can’t comment about the dish in particular, but there was certainly plenty of communications equipment on the roof. [Here’s a closeup of the roof of the North Tower.](http://www.pokragac.com/photo/places/slides/North%20WTC%20Tower%20Roof%20from%20South%20Roof.html)

In fact, the World Trade Center was such a popular location for antennas that, after the towers came down, there was a massive communications problem in New York City, and the FCC passed special rules to expedite the relocation of WTC antennas to different sites.
