It crashed in Queens. It probably just crashed (imagine saying a sentence like that 2 months ago.) The airport is in Queens. We’re still short on details here. ---

A bit more detail. It crashed in the Rockaways. This is near JFK, where the plane took off from. ---

A.P. as of 9:42am NEW YORK – A plane crashed this morning in the Queens section of New York, and buildings reportedly are on fire in the neighborhood. The plane crashed shortly after 9 a.m. and thick, black smoke could be seen in televised reports. The type of plane and number of people aboard were not immediately known. CNN reported that American Airlines confirmed the plane was an inbound American Airlines Boeing 767. The airline told The Associated Press it had no immediate comment. ---

I managed to get into [CNN.com](http://CNN.com) but it seems most of the local news sites are bogged down. Regular crash or not people are probably freaking. Ok, _I’m_ freaking. I have a radio here but I’m hesitant to tune in. Largely because I’ve become a wuss but also because I have an assistant here from overseas and I know being separated from them on 9/11 hit her really hard. I don’t want to put her through hearing crash details if it’s “just” a regular crash… ---
