I must admit, however, my hamster is far too busy keeping my dialup connection open to assist with the SDMB, I’m afeared. I do have to say, a more intelligent buncha wackadoos I have _never_ run across on any msg board or newsgroup, to date, hangs out here. Y’all just drag out what little good material I got. ---

My evidence suggests there _is_ no such thing as reading too many Elric books. 🙂 And speaking of no such thing… Once had a friend (in a drunken stupor, of course) rail on and on to a group of 8 or 10 of us in a bar one night about the copy he possessed of said evil tome. A couple of the group had no idea what he was on about, a couple of ‘em bought every word he said, and the rest of us chuckled to ourselves as he went on about the various summonings and protective devices detailed in the book. About this time we realised he was dead serious. (no pun intended) Apparently, he’d bought something proposing itself to be the Necronomicon in some shady ‘spiritualist’ store. Whether it was self delusion (I bought this freakin’ thing for $200, so it damn well **is** the real thing) a sucker purchase generated by a smooth talking shop owner, or what, we never did figure out. Then again, maybe he was making the whole thing up, and wouldn’t drop the act once he’d started on his story; who knows? Once he left the bar, we _did_ have a round of uproarious laughter at his expense, I’m ashamed to admit.
