This is not a PETA rant. There are plenty of those elsewhere. I used to go into McDonalds and get in and out in a few minutes (this was the glory days when they could hire people that wanted to work). I went in, there was a big bin full of food, someone stuck two dead cow patties on a bun into a bag, and that’s that. The food once in a great while was marginal, but most of the time it was OK. Now, there is no more bin full of food. The food is kept unassembled in little plastic trays and they make each sandwich to order. It takes fucking forever to get out, and the food tastes bad all the time instead of just once in a while. It’s cold. It looks artificial. It _tastes_ artificial. Stupid jerks just had to screw up a good thing. ---

I’ve given up on McDonalds for that very reason. No I go to Wendy’s instead. Besides, rectangular hamburgers are cool. ---

It’s not cost-effective anymore to make up burgers ahead of time, because at the end of the day you just have to throw them away. It was different 30 years ago, when McD’s basically had no competition, but now they’re runnin’ hard just to stay in front, so they’re cost-cutting wherever they can. And I’m sorry, Birdman, but seeing as how this is the Pit, I’m just gonna haveta say, “Fuck Wendy’s!” I have NEVER gone in there and gotten a burger that didn’t have little tiny bits of bone chips and gristle in it. They have the worst hamburger meat on God’s green planet, and that’s a fact. Nothing personal, though, B-man, 'kay? 😃 I don’t go to either Wendy’s OR McD’s, I go to Hardees–and get chicken. (KFC sucks, besides I used to work there.) ---

When I was a kid in the late 60’s, early 70’s, McDonald’s made great burgers and fries. Now, their product tastes like reheated monkey dung on a bun. These days the only fast food joint I go to is Subway. They make sandwiches quickly, with fresh, nonfat ingredients. [Hijack]One thing I miss from fast food joints in Seoul is getting pat bing su, a Korean ice cream sundae with fruit, marshmallows, and sweet red beans, mixed with vanilla ice cream and sweet milk. Mickey D’s, BK, Lotteria, and Winner’s all sold pat bing su. MMM, those are good![/Hijack] ---

Matt: My husband and I had the same question when we moved to NC from New England. We said what is Chick-Fil-A?(the “A” pronouned “uh”). Soon we discovered it is supposed to sound like “Fillet” - who knew? I personally don’t like it much. The chicken is way too salty, I don’t like pickles (which come on every sandwich), and their fries suck. Additionally, I have no interest in furthering their corporate purpose: “To glorify God . . .” Aeryn “Chick-Fil-Atheist” Sun ---

duck duck: oh I thought I was the only one that hapened to. Wendys hamburgers always have some small pebbles in them. I think its part of the driveway that “DAve”, the owner of Wendy’s drives in on. He runs over small animals, then picks them up and brings them in to the Wendy’s plant, explaining the small pebbles in the burgers… ---

Chick-Fil-A is a chicken fast food place here in the states, with a few quirks. First, they only sell chicken - no burgers, no fish, just chicken. Second, they only open up inside malls (although I think down south there are a few stand-alone restaurants). Third, they’re all closed on Sundays even if the surrounding mall is open. And, sadly, fourth, they’re rabidly right-wing Christian. {SIGH} Their chicken nuggets, however, kick everyone else’s ass, IMHO. Yes, not very PC of me, but then again I’ll also admit to liking Domino’s pizza, and they’re also on the list of Businesses Not To Support. Esprix ---

Esprix’s right, down here there are stand-alone Chick-Fil-As. I don’t eat there for many of the reasons already mentioned–religiosity, pickles, saltiness, atrociously misconceived phonetic spelling, etc. ---

When I moved to NC from NY, I didn’t see why the drive-thru and mall lines were so long. I hated that food. Although their “Eat more chicken” billboards were cute. It’s the sole reason I moved back here (kidding!). Now if Albany can just aquire a Krispy Kreme (like NYC did), I’ll be all about it! ---
