Everybody knows that a proper water tower should resemble a stone fruit (or possibly one or more items of human anatomy.)
Near here is a water sphere at Edgewood Golf Club, that has been painted to look like a golf ball on a tee since I was a kid. I see by the link from crowmanyclouds that it’s not the only one.
Also… If it’s in an area where the aquifer does not re-charge fast, a water tower (or tank or whatever) is how you will keep water available when it’s needed.
