WTF is with all the Lets Pop A Nuke threads lately?

Yeah, aren’t they responsible for the problems in Floriday???

[sub]it’s not like they’re innocent. [/sub]

Damn, Tamerlane…you beat me by a minute.

Good to know you have a sense of humor also.

The target is completely wrong…

These terrorist aren’t coming from the Middle East. At least one of them is a French citizen. The yahoo with the bomb in his shoe was British. I believe Hamburg, Germany has been implicated as the location of the planning process. If we are going to nuke anyone, I think it should be France, Britian and Germany.

Musn’t forget Spain, now.

Ohh! While we’re at it… Didn’t most of the terrorists get their flight training in the US…? Let’s nuke ourselves! Wheee…!
Damn us Americans! Providing terrorist training…!

Yeah, Tranquilis, you’re right, sigh …

Fundamentally it’s a desire to make problems go away quickly with a minimum of effort or thought. And the same goes for the sub-nucular assertion that “we should just (have the Americans) send a shitload of troops into Iraq and get that bastard Saddam once and for all”, and so forth.

“It’s taking longer than we thought.” - Cecil

And his nook-yoo-lur sneakers were made in Amsterdam.

What’s that mushroom cloud at the horizon?

Hey, where was Timothy McVeigh from? Might as well nuke his hometown, too, just to make sure any homegrown terrorists know we aren’t kidding.

If folks just decided to pop off a warhead … well, as of the end of 1995, we knew of 2,056 times that a warhead was detonated. The world isn’t destroyed yet. Note that I’m not saying that there have been no ill-effects – there have been, and I agree with the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty – but one more explosion isn’t going to affect the environment or folks’ health too much more. Tack on about a dozen more for the Pakistan and Indian testing a few years ago, and the US accounts for only about half of the known number. Still, it’s over a thousand.

(Yes, I realize that the health of those immediately underneath the warhead will be adversely affected, and the detritus from blowing up a city will be much, much more toxic and dangerous than the fallout from a test explosion, but my point was that there have been more nuclear explosions than most people are aware of.)

Well, we should just nuke everyone, including ourselves. It’s the only way to be safe!

Pendleton, New York. It looks like it’s up near Niagara Falls. So, you see, McVeigh was practically Canadian. I knew we could blame those damn foreigners for that one.

We got a winner on the homegrown terrorists. … Looks like we might get to nuke Chicago. Sorry Cecil.
