Well, the thread is now closed, and the mention of the new rule so far remains within ATMB. I guess stifling questioning is more important than telling people about the new rule. Way to go, Mr. Ed. ---

I’m gonna take the contrarian position on this one. Otto was asking for it. “What about moderators who are rude?” The fuck, dumbass? Did you really think the comment was about promoting general civility and peace on earth? No, it’s to get people to quit carping about moderation outside the pit, which was supposedly against the rules anyway. Were you trying to see how close you could get to the line without getting slammed? Your threads were stupid; goodbye moron. Not to say that I agree with management BTW. Come on, Ed. That’s not change we can believe in. We are all hoping for _positive_ changes around here, not an administration staff that likes to flex just because it can (new book getting to your ego, eh?). I remember a thread in which I mentioned that my wife at the time and I were trying to have a child through IVF. **Otto** came along and stated he wished I’d never have a kid. I never forgot that. Can’t say I have much reason to defend him. BTW, my daughter is due the week before Christmas. 🙂 ---

The “I am [strikethrough]Spartacus[/striketrough] **Otto** ” post was disappeared though. **[the PC apeman’s](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/member.php)** profile doesn’t show him as BANNED, but it could be that he was and no one has gotten around to changing the tag yet. For some reason the “sweep it under the rug” stuff bugs me more than the original banning. If **the PC apeman** broke the rules, ban his ass. If the thread can’t stay open without being hijacked, lock it and direct discussion here. I saw **Q.E.D.** with BANNED a while ago and wondered what that was about. Search is still appears to be disabled. **Otto** ’s question is a re-factoring of the age old “Are standards so high they’ve doubled?” Given **Ed Zotti** ’s [response](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=10179237&postcount=25), it’s clearer what **Otto** was snarking: If you’re rude to the staff, you will be banned. If the staff is rude to you, you will be banned (if you complain about it). If you don’t like it, leave.
