This is a good board and I’d hate to see it degenerate into mods vs users. The rules are fairly strict; no editing quotes, no personal attacks outside The Pit, etc. As a result the signal to noise ratio is very good. But then after years with only one new forum (The Game Room), Ed comes in and sticks his Barn House 'twixt our nethers, gets whined into moving it, and now Ed’s ban-happy. Yeah Otto’s comment was a little snarky, but geez, get over it. Otto, like me, probably went to ATMB to see why the new server was not running on new improved gerbils, but instead one-legged frogs. ---

When we make a mistake and lose our tempers, we should fix the mistake and apologize. Ed’s done that, fair enough. As for saying they all work hard and are fine people (even though they make mistakes too), it’s a sign of good leadership to make the praise public and keep the criticism private. ---

That seems pretty damn fair. The posters insulting Jerry was asinine. Which pound of flesh did you actually want. He took a shit storm he did not deserve over the addition of a forum for himself and he made an excellent compromise. He took a bigger shit storm today for a decision that was not good for the dope and in the same day, he backed off and is being diplomatic again. In other words, responsive to our complaints. Even the really nasty ones. What the hell do you actually want from him? Are you just sad that your pile-on is ending? ---

I totally understand the banning. I used to teach in elementary school. There are times when you need to get control of a classroom. You tell them all to shut the fuck up and the next fucking kid who says a word is going to take a hike down the hall. There’s always one little shit who just _has_ to pipe up and test the teacher. **Otto** was that little shit, and you _always_ have to follow through and make an example of that little shit or they’ll _all_ start doing it. A temporary suspension is about right. I bet he’ll shut the fuck up next time. My sympathies are entirely with Ed. ---
