The pile-ons on Jerry and the mods were fucking annoying, but you still expect people to be professional. (Although if it had been me, I might’ve locked everyone out. But I wouldn’t have singled out one person.) ---

Yes, I saw the post where the asshole rescinded the bannings and will, ostensibly, turn them into suspensions. That is still fucked up, though. This place has been going downhill for awhile, and the sheer number of posters who have revealed themselves to be total sycophants has made me slightly nauseous. I know that this is just a silly message board, but abuse of power is one thing I truly cannot abide and I cannot stomach the idea of continuing my membership in a place that is run the way this board has been recently. ---

Well good luck, but I don’t get your current complaint. Posters that almost always support the mods, bitched about this one. Posters that don’t even like **Otto** complained about it on principal and \*\*Ed Zotti \*\*did rescind his hasty decision (as he admitted it was.) I didn’t exactly say I supported the ban, I said I _understood_ it, which is different. I understand the impulse. I also said I think the _suspension_ is appropriate. A permament ban would be over the top, but I get why Ed would lose it like that. ---

I gotta say, I’m glad this was addressed, but that was not an apology. “But what more do you _waaaaant_?” An apology. It starts with “I’m sorry.” I’m not leaving like I was planning to, but I still think an apology would have been the right thing. ETA - and there is nothing at all hot about Viktor Yuschenko before OR after dioxin poisoning. You need to get your thermostat checked. ---

Books are big and heavy, so it’s expensive to send them back where you got them. In other words, a book that has been remaindered has been put on the bargain rack. ---

I’ve been reading and enjoying the Cecil columns for many years, and the board is more of a side interest for me. I have to agree whole heartedly with the sentiment that such immature, whiney behaviour from the writer has greatly reduced my enjoyment of the columns. Although I know that Cecil is a fictional character, I now feel that he is simply the product of a loser trying to be cool. I’m quite sad, because that feeling is pretty irreversible. Ed should probably do what he can to mitigate the damage now. I’m sure there must be many others who feel the same way. ---

Just a quick point of fact regarding **Ed’s** book: it’s Amazon sales rank is currently #39,833, up from some 220,000 plus at the beginning. Plus, it’s only been reviewed by two buyers but both rated it at five stars. I would also point out that I imagine that in the world of book publishing, if every single active Doper bought a copy, it would be a drop in the bucket of hoped for national sales. How many active Dopers are there? Two thousand? Three? Hardly best-seller numbers, and I doubt very much that **Ed** counted on making this place a naked shill for his book. ---
