In the review of “A Few Good Men” at about 2:56 a gash opens up on Eberts lower left check (his left, our right). It continues and gets bloody until about 3:12 when it goes back to normal. But then at about 3:20 something starts happening on his forehead, first a red letter “S” appears and then it’s like it’s bleeding too. The rest of his face also looks gross and distorted, and a couple of things happen to Siskels face as well. All in all it’s kind of creepy. Looks like run-of-the-mill video compression artifacts to me. Once these appear they can move around along with the image. ---

Yes, it’s definitely compression artifacts. Or, of course, his reptiloid disguise slipping. ---

Roger Ebert did, of course, have something wrong with his face later in life, due to cancer. When I saw the thread title, I thought this was going to be about that. ---
