So, what you’re saying is that 91 is the smallestpositivenumberthatisthesumoftwocubesintwodifferentwaysiest number.

> It’s my understanding that in the American system, introductory courses are numbered “101”. This has morphed into meaning anything that’s of a beginner’s or introductory nature. It’s starting to leach into British English as well. I’ve heard people use this in expressions such as:
>
> What, you didn’t salt your gherkins overnight first? That’s pickling 101 that is.

> So; 101 is the simplest number.

I’d argue it’s also the [scariest number.](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Room_101)

37 is the most symmetrical-but-doesn’t-look-it number.

Why? Because any three digit number, where the digits are all the same, is divisible by 37.

Ex: 555/37 = 15

Only in the film. In the book, it was Room 217. The reason, from Wikipedia:

> [@](#):
>
> Timberline Lodge, located on Mt. Hood in Oregon, was used for the exterior shots of the fictional “Overlook Hotel”; the Lodge requested that Kubrick was not to depict room #217 (featured in the book) in The Shining, because future guests at the Lodge might be afraid to stay there. So a nonexistent room, #237, was substituted in the film. Curiously and somewhat ironically, room #217 is requested more often than any other room at Timberline.
